RECIPE: GALAXY DONUTS

AINEKSET:

Dough
0,8 dl milk
1 tsp white vinegar
2,5 dl flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3 tbsp butter
0,6 dl sugar
2 tbsp honey
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Topping
3 tbsp condensed milk
1 tbsp vanilla extract
2,5 dl powdered sugar
pink, purple and blue food coloring
edible glitter

Hey guys! Let me present you the most delicious donuts of the universe: galaxy donuts! I love donuts so much and somehow I hadn’t tried out baking them myself. But now I have! I’ve always imagined that making donuts would be hard and arduous but it definitely wasn’t. I also felt like playing with food colorings and glitter so I gave the donuts a galactic make over 🙂

LET’S GET COOKING:

Combine the milk and vinegar in a small bowl. Place it in the fridge for about 15 minutes to chill. This makes some home-made butter milk.

Whisk the flour, baking powder and salt in a small bowl and set aside. Combine the butter, sugar, honey, egg and vanilla extract in a large bowl. Add the buttermilk and mix until combined. Add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined – make sure not to overtax though.

Spoon the dough into a piping bag fitted with a round tip and pipe into a greased doughnut pan. Bake at 200 Celsius degrees for 7 minutes. Cool for one minute in the pan, then flip the pan over to remove the doughnuts and cool completely on a wire rack.

Then start making the topping. Whisk together the condensed milk and the vanilla extract. Add the powdered sugar and whisk until fully combined. If the topping is too thick, add a little more condensed milk. Divide the topping into four bowls. Leave one bowl white and dye the remaining bowls with pink, blue and purple. Dollop the four colors into a bowl, swirling them together to create a “galactic” pattern.

Dip the doughnuts in the topping and return to the wire rack. Sprinkle some edible glitter on top and let the topping dry for 20 minutes. Enjoy!
